What Shamrock Means to Us - Theta Nu Seniors

Each year every Kappa Delta chapter hosts a Shamrock Event, which benefits Prevent Child Abuse America (PCAA) and their local philanthropy. Theta Nu has hosted Karnival each year as our Shamrock Event. Lots of other organizations on campus create their own booth with games, snacks, and more, all to help raise money for our philanthropy. This year we are raising money for Cary Home for Children and Jessie’s Kids Foundation - our local philanthropy. While things are definitely going to look different for our Karnival this year, keep reading to hear what some of the seniors of Theta Nu have to say about what the event means to them and their experiences at Karnival throughout the years.

Sister Maddie Bohlmann was on the Shamrock Committee and helped plan Karnival. Here’s what she had to say about this event:

“Shamrock is an amazing event to be a part of! Being an education major and knowing some of the money raised goes to Prevent Child Abuse of America means so much to me! I remember my freshman and sophomore year having basically the whole community come out and support such a great cause. There were petting puppies, carnival games, throwing each other in ‘jail,’ and much more. It was such a blast! My freshman year, I was on the committee to plan the event, and I’ll never forget the morning of, driving over to the Co-Rec and my car being packed from top to bottom. You couldn’t even move because there were so many things that went into planning it!”

Sister Sarah Clarke loves our Karnival event! “Kappa Delta Karnival is one of the best events that our sorority puts on. We were able to gather the whole chapter together to raise a sizable amount of money to donate to great organizations. In 2019, I was asked to dress up as one of the Girl Scout cookies with my friend Emma. We had an absolute blast bringing up the morale to help raise money for our philanthropies.”

This year, Karnival will be a week-long event from Friday April 16 - Friday April 23. There will be on campus events, as well as virtual fundraising efforts.
