You are Valued

Hey ladies!! My name is Brooke Perry and I am in the Eta class. Little back story of what brought me here to be writing to you. I thought about rushing my freshman year but never actually ended up signing up. Instead, I made good group of guy friends. While they were all amazing people, whenever I brought up the idea of being in a sorority, they would all shut me down by saying “Your just not the basic sorority type.” Over the year, I built up my confidence and decided to give rushing a shot. Throughout rush, I was surprised by how much I loved talking to each girl that I met. Each house had girls that shared my values and did not. The girls that differed from me were still very respectful and open to learning more about me. The girls I have met share many different passions and I believe they have great things ahead of them. Kappa Delta gave me a place to share my values and the impact they have on me as an individual.

In the middle of this quarantine, we have the opportunity to reflect on all the things that make us into the person we are today. This can be giving yourself time to meditate and journal, exploring your artistic side, or taking yourself for a long run (if you need other suggestions let me know). Mental nutrition is such an important idea to practice when you probably are spending much more time on social media. Fill yourself up with the things that bring you joy and remind yourself of all the obstacles you have overcome in the past. You should be proud of the qualities that make you who you are. I love when someone can’t speak fast enough to communicate how passionate they are about something. Words have an immense impact on the world around us, so use them to build each other up.

The world is better because you are a part of it,

Brooke

(if you ever need to talk about anything, please know I am a message away)
